Lately

I don’t know where this week went, but I’d say it was a good balance of work and play despite the resulting fatigue. Went to Edmonton in the middle of the week to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers and they were superbly excellent :) Here are some instagram snippets from the past few days:

{ Stephens Ave is no Stephansplatz, that’s for sure :S }

{ Smoked Salmon Sandwich & Cream of Tomato Soup @ The Common }

{ My Edmonton essential: Remedy chai lattes <3 }

{ The tree at my parents house – super excited to come home this Christmas! }

{ shiny things at the Spruce Meadows International Christmas Market }

{ I want a pocket watch & a monocle, please }

And now I must mentally prepare for this upcoming week: a quickie in Vancouver, pack up the apartment, keep up with the 35 day yoga challenge, WORK, work Christmas party, move, aaand…. hopefully find some time to do laundry and adequate sleep haha.

{ Eva Sweet @ 104th st City Market – Maple Bacon Liege Waffle }

{ free corn on the cob @ a random cornfest in downtown?! }

Summer Dreamin’

With June only a few more sleeps away, the anticipation for summer makes me feel like a little kid that’s excited for Disneyland and can’t fall asleep. Edmonton summers are the most redeeming part of this city and I’m convinced that if we had warm weather all year round, we’d be the happiest people in the world.

When I was younger, I used to make a “Summer To-Do/Eat” list every year and it’s something I’ve carried with me into my 20′s  - so keeping with my summer list-making habit, here are some things I hope to cross off my list in the months ahead:

1. Hike Mt. Edith Cavell
2. See Moraine Lake
3. Go fruit picking & bake a pie with said fruit
4. Hike The Chief
5. Have a champagne party with Carly, Bev, & Sophie
6. “Re-decorate” i.e. furnish my room … maybe.
7. Take a slightly pre-meditated spontaneous roadtrip somewhere (Portland?)
8. Do a Vancouver (or Portland) food tour
9. Festivals. As many as possible. (Above photo: Netherlands booth at Heritage Days 2011)
10. On that note, try that dang deep-fried Kool-Aid at Stampede, which is sure to be a let down after I hyped it up last year.

This list tends to be a working document throughout the summer, so I’ll likely be adding more things. What are you guys looking forward to this summer?
